| Deep in the impenetrable
jungles of Yucatan, amid the crumbling ruins of a Mayan
temple, is hidden the jewel of jewels, the biggest and
most mysterious ruby in the world - the Sacred Ruby of
Quetzalcoatl. In the
early 1700s, a lone explorer stumbles through the
steaming jungle, into the ruins... and almost has the
jewel in his reach. But the Guardians are ever vigilant.
In modern day Chicago, Sam
Grant is chosen to lead a team to discover the Sacred
Ruby...and escape from the jungle alive.
In this fascinating adventure
story, Stephanie Jones skilfully weaves together a
number of strands....the book is mainly about facing
your fears. It is also about the importance of
family and about fighting for what you believe is right.
The subject of inhuman, irrational hate is also
explored.
The novel is spicy and easy to
read. It is sometimes funny, it has a romantic strand
but it is all about trying to decide who you want to be.
The villain in this book is not
only after the stone as well, but has mysterious ties
with the family of the main characters. |
