Rimwood
Tales is a kind of autobiography. It started out as
a record of my life, written for my grandchildren, but I
soon realized other people might be interested in my
experiences during World War II and my life afterwards,
especially emigrating to Canada in 1951.
It isn’t easy
to go to another country if you don’t know the language.
However I was young and everything came together, I
found a wife, raised a family and we have six lovely
grandchildren.
Werner Rettig was born in Rimbach,
Germany in 1931.
He grew up in Weinheim Germany and
went to school there. In 1945 he started his
apprenticeship as an industrial electrician. When work
got scarce, in 1951, he decided to go to Canada and
became in time a happy Canadian. He could be called a do
it yourself person since he likes to build machinery,
buildings and furniture.
