Tom Vancel hails from Tennessee, where he attended public
schools and played baseball. After serving with the army for four
years in peacetime Europe, he returned to college to study
chemistry, dentistry and pharmacy. He pursued a career in pharmacy
for 39 years before retiring.
Forty-one years ago, Tom married Glenda, who is still at his side.
They have a son and daughter, both of whom teach, the daughter in
kindergarten and the son in college.
He
has published and edited a weekly newspaper for five years, served
as a part time missionary to Central America, coached college
soccer, and now does dentistry in third world countries on an
intermittent basis.
Tom is a licensed pilot, a grandpa, speaks in churches regularly,

Scribes. ABC Tales has published six of Tom’s super short stories.
