The Canduit Project took shape because of my
concern about near earth orbit meteorites and the lack
of a definite plan to deflect them.
As
far as I am concerned the time to start is now before we
get clobbered like the dinosaurs. However, trying to
prevent the destruction of the human race is not as sexy

The book is cleverly written and very enjoyable to read.
It is a flight of fancy from beginning to end, but it includes a trip around the world in the
airship Wachenburg, a trip to the moon via the Canduit
Spacestation and a journey in a time machine with
professor Bernstein, also known as Twelvestein, because
he is twelve times as smart as Einstein.
Werner Rettig was born in Rimbach Germany in 1931.
He
grew up in Weinheim, Germany and went to school there. In
1945 he started his apprenticeship as an industrial
electrician.
When work got scarce, in 1951, he decided to go to
Canada and became, in time, a happy Canadian. He could
be called a do it yourself person since he likes to
build machinery, buildings and furniture.
