Set up in October 2004, the dpdotcom website is a relatively new venture into digital publishing, specialising in the creation and marketing of quality ebooks by talented new writers.

Based in the UK, we have had a high-profile presence on the internet for the past 6 years, promoting ebooks in a number of ways. Those 6 years have taught us what works and what doesn’t, when it comes to selling ebooks online. We have learned from our mistakes, and enjoyed our successes: we have learned which ebook format is the most universally accepted, which payment methods are best and which marketing strategies are successful.

We are writers ourselves and our intention is to support other writers in any way we can. We believe digital publishing and ebooks have a future: they may never fully replace the paper book, but they are a viable alternative.

You are probably disillusioned at the current state of the publishing industry: we share that feeling. We are saddened by the fact that many literary agents and publishing executives seem to have a stranglehold on the industry, and that work by talented writers will never be given a chance.

We believe the internet and the accessibility of ebooks holds great hope for the future – writers now have a way of offering their work directly to a book-hungry public.

We aim to make your work available to as wide an audience as possible, and to use companies and technologies that will allow as many readers as possible to discover your ebook.

We use Adobe Acrobat to convert your work to PDF, because of all the ebook formats, Adobe PDF is the most widely accepted and widely used.

We use 2 different methods of downloading and paying for ebook purchases: one is a dpdotcom ebook store based on the esellerate servers, the second is based on our own servers and uses PayPal as the payment method.

We use www.esellerate.net  because they work harder than most to promote the sale of digital goods.

We use PayPal because it is free, simple to use and secure. Over the years, the PayPal service has improved considerably and the number of customer accounts held – some 100,000,000 worldwide – indicates how readily accessible their service is.

We also offer all our authors, free of charge, the chance to see their work published as a paperback.

We use the excellent lulu.com print-on-demand service - we prepare your manuscript, design a cover and sell your paperback for you via our lulu/dpdotcom bookstore.

That is all part of our service - as an author, it costs you nothing. And you enjoy $2.50 royalties on each paperback sale.
